Born during the December quarter 1898 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/170,
the son of Rowland Cottrill & Lois Marston (nee Hale).

1901 Census - Cottril Bank, Stockport Road, Timperley.   Son - aged: 2 -
born: Timperley.   Head of household - Roland Marston - Married - aged:30 -
occ: Master Carpenter - born: Waterloo, Lancashire.   Also - Lois Marston -
Wife - aged: 30 - born: Lower Withington, Manchester.   Plus 2 elder
brothers.

Attended the Timperley Parish Church School and the Bradbury Higher
Elementary School.

1911 Census - Stockport Road, Timperley.   Son - aged: 12 - Scholar - born:
Timperley.   Head of household - Rowland Cottrill Marston - Married - aged:
40 - occ: Builder & Contractor - born: Waterloo, Lancashire.   Plus 2 elder
sons and 1 younger sister.

Member of the Timperley Church Choir and Organist for Young Mens' Class.

Enlisted on 10th March 1917 and drafted to the front in November 1917.

Spent five weeks in hospital whilst at camp in England during his training
period.

Kia at Levergies, France.   M.I. (France) - "Tho' I come no more, I shall
be waiting to greet you at his door".

Death reported in the 18/10/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

Commemorated on the private family gravestone in Christchurch Churchyard.  
M.I. (Timperley) - "That only offering in thine eyes.  The one true pure
immortal sacrifice".

At the time of his death, he had two brothers in the Army - Sapper Cyril
Marston - R.E's, was at the Christchurch hospital suffering from trench
fever.    His other brother Sapper Charles Marston - R.E's, was at the
front.
