Trafford

Born during the December quarter 1889 in the Rochdale R.D. - ref: 8e/6, the
son of John Edgar & Emily Frances Schunk (nee Higgins), who later resided
at Low Mere, Broad, Lane, Hale, Cheshire.

In 1881, his father was residing at Wicken Hall Farm Work, Rochdale.  He
was listed as a Bleacher, employing 56 men, 39 females, 7 boys and 8 girls.
  He was unmarried, aged: 24 and was born at Rochdale.

1891 Census - No Trace.

1901 Census - Hyelands, Burbage, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire.    Son -
aged: 11 - born: New Hey, Lancashire.   Head of household - John Edgar
Schunck - Married -m aged: 44 - occ: Living on own Means - born: Rochdale,
Lancashire.    Also - Emily F. Schunck - Wife - aged: 47 - born:
Manchester.   Plus 2 younger siblings and 5 servants.

1911 Census - No Trace.  His parents were now residing at Low Mere, Broad
Lane, Hale.

Attended Dunstable Grammar School.   After a course in Agriculture at the
Agricultural College at Holmes Chapel, he went out to Salisbury, Rhodesia
(now Zimbabwe) in January 1912.   He spent a year at the Darwendale Ranch
and then took a plot of land nearby.

Enlisted in November 1914 and involved in fighting in German East Africa.

Death reported in the 24/03/1916 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

Commemorated on the private family gravestone in St. Mary's Churchyard,
Ringway.   According to the M.I. his name was Cedric Brian Schunk and he
died on 11/03/1916 in German East Africa. 

His mother, Emily Frances died 14/05/1921 aged 68, his father in the Bath
R.D. in 1931, aged: 76.

M.I. - "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God".

Listed as G. Bryan Schunck on the Altrincham Roll of Honour and George
Bryan Schunk in the local newspaper.  The CWGC list him as Cedric.

Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1917, which states
that his name is George Bryan Schunk.

His father was a member of the Manchester Reform Club, 81 King Street,
Manchester.
