Timperley.  They had been married for 12 years and produced 6 children 4 of
whom were still alive - namely Elsie, aged: 12 - James, aged: 11 - Arthur,
aged: 6 - Nellie, aged: 3.

The 20th (Service) Bn (5th City) was in the 22nd Brigade, 7th Division.  
Attacked right of Fricourt at 2.30pm on 01/07.  There were high casualties
during their advance on Sunken Road Trench.  Involved in heavy fighting in
Bois Français Support, Orchard Alley and Zinc Trench.    Relieved and to
Caftet Wood 03/07.   Later to bivouacs north-west of Carnoy.  Casualties -
326.   To Plum Lane and Danzig Trench in support of an attack at Mametz
Wood 04/07.   To Heilly on 05/07 and to Citadel Camp on 10/07.   Moved into
reserve lines near Mametz Wood 14/07 with 'C' & 'D' Coys going forward to
Bazentin-le-Petit in support of the 2nd Bn Royal Irish and the 1st Bn Royal
Welsh Fusiliers.   Moved forward during the night to The Snout and support
line along the south-western edge of Bazentin-le-Petit Wood.  Casualties
during the advance - 169.   Relieved and to Dernancourt 21/07.  Entrained
at Méricourt for Hangest 22/07 and from there marched to
Belloy-sur-Somme.

Buried next to a German soldier.
