Born during the March quarter 1899 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/180, the
son of  William Edward & Elizabeth Oxley (nee Hollingsworth - with an 's').
   Baptised at St. Margaret's P.C., Dunham Massey (Altrincham) on the 23rd
February 1899.

1901 Census - 6 Chapel Street, Altrincham.    Son - aged: 2 - born:
Altrincham.   Head of household - William E Oxley - Married - aged: 28 -
occ: Bricklayer's Labourer - born: Altrincham.   Also - Elizabeth Oxley -
Wife - aged: 34 - born: Altrincham.   Plus 2 siblings.

His mother - Elizabeth Oxley died in 1903, aged: 32.

1911 Census - 6 Chapel Street, Altrincham.   Nephew - aged: 9 - Scholar -
born: Altrincham.  Nephew to the Head of household - Mary Ann Hollingworth
- Single - aged: 40 - occ: Charwoman - born: Altrincham.   Plus 5 other
family members and 2 Boarders.
His father is now residing at 8 Salisbury Street, St. Helens, Lancashire
(Lodging House).  Boarder - Widower - aged: 40 - occ: Labourer - born:
Altrincham.

He attended St. Margaret's C. of E. School.   Subsequently employed at the
Altrincham Hippodrome.

His father died during the December quarter 1914 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref:
8a/254 - aged: 43.   His father's brother - Alfred Oxley, was also killed
in action during WW1.

Enlisted into the 12th Battalion, Manchester Rgt on the 20th February 1917
and posted to France in January 1918.

Death reported in the 15th March 1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

Enlisted on the 20th February 1917 and was posted to the front in January
1918.

Recorded on the Chapel Street Memorial as having served in the Cheshire
Regiment, but no record of that has been found.
