Born on the 7th February 1897 and his birth registered during the June
quarter 1897 in the Halifax R.D. - ref: 9a/459, the son of Charles Marten &
Lucyna Street (nee Orlowski).

Bridge, Yorkshire.   Head of household - Charles M. Street - Married -
aged: 35 - occ: Bank Clerk - born: Ravensthorpe, Yorkshire.    Also -
Lucyna Street - Wife - aged: 39 - born: Rochdale, Lancashire.

1911 Census - The Bank House, Gatley, Cheshire.    Son - aged: 14 - Scholar

Attended the North Manchester Grammar School and trained as an Electrical
Engineer at Broadheath.

Enlisted in the Cheshire Rgt, then transferred to the RFC.   The first
entry on his RFC record was when he was drafted to 25 Sqn on the 25th
August 1916, where he qualified as an Observer.   He then appointed Flying
Officer (Observer) on the 11th September 1916.   Sent to an Air Gunnery
School on the 18th January 1917.    Drafted to 1 Sqn on the 25th April
1917.   Hospitalised for 2 weeks on the 17th May 1917.

Flying a Nieuport 17 he was leading a formation into an attack on enemy
aircraft over Zonnebeke when he was shot down and crashed behind the
British lines.    1 Sqn was based at the Bailleul Asylum Ground Airfield at
this time.

There is a mention of a Lt. C. Street in the RFC Communiqués of 1916.

The Sky Their Battlefield states - Lt. Street was on an Offensive Patrol in
a Nieuport 17 No. B1649.   He was in combat with 6 enemy aircraft - he was
shot down and went into a spinning nose dive crashing into the 2nd line
trenches.   He took off from Zonnebeke-Perenchies at 19.56 hours.  A
Nieuport was claimed shot down near Ypres at 2100 hours by Ltn K.
Allmenröder Jall.

His death was reported in the 6th July 1917 edition of the Altrincham
Guadian.
