Born during the September quarter 1885 in the Oldham R.D. - ref: 8d/578,
the son of John & Louisa Mary Redfern (nee Barker).

- Widow - aged: 45 - occ: Living on own means - born: Oldham.  Plus 6 elder
siblings and 3 domestic servants.

1901 Census - Uppingham School House, London Road, Town, Uppingham, Rutland
& Leicestershire.    Boarder - aged: 15 Scholar - born: Oldham.  His
widowed mother was still residing at Bentinck Road in 190, together with 3
siblings and 2 domestic servants.

1911 Census - "Woodlawn", Bentinck Road, Altrincham.    Son - aged: 25 -
occ: Stock Broker's Clerk - born: Oldham, Lancashire.   Head of household -
Louisa M. Redfern - Widow - aged: 70 - occ: Private means - born:
Macclesfield, Cheshire.  Plus 3 elder sisters and 2 domestic servants.

Employed by Messrs. John Siddall & Sons, Stockbrokers, Manchester.

His father was born at Oldham in 1840.  Employed as a Solicitor in Oldham &
Manchester, but died soon after Samuel was born.

Enlisted in the Public Schools Bn in August 1914,  commissioned in the LNLR
in August 1915 and drafted to the front in March 1916.   Engaged in the
Battle of the Somme.

DoW received on the 31st July 1917.

Death reported in the 07/08/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.
