Born during the September quarter 1890 in the Prestwich R.D. - ref: 8d/383,
the eldest son of Buckley & Anna Maria Brooks (nee Causer).

months - born: Manchester.   Head of household - Buckley Brooks - Married -
aged: 28 - occ: Brewery Manager - born: Manchester.   Also - Anna M. Brooks
- Wife - aged: 29 - born: Australia.   Plus 1 domestic servant.

1901 Census - Merton House, Fernbrook Road, Dwygyfylchi, Conway,
Carnarvonshire.  Pupil - aged: 10 - Scholar - born:M Manchester.
His parents were now residing at Temple Lodge, Cheetham Hill Road, North
Manchester, along with his 3 younger sisters and 3 domestic servants.

1911 Census - Manor House, Hale, Cheshire.  Son - aged: 20 - occ: Architect

Grandson of the late Councillor Joseph Brookes of Manchester. His father
was connected to the Holts Derby Brewery, Manchester.

Attended the Merton House School, Penmaenmawr and Dean Close, Cheltenham.

Practicing as an Architect in Manchester.

Enlisted in August 1914.     Both he and his brother (who was KiA at
Gallipoli) were commissioned in September 1914 and he was drafted to the
front in February 1917 ?????

WO374 states:- His attestation papers are missing from his file, in fact
there are only five documents left in the file.    He was appointed as
Adjutant to Captain Arthur D. Hunter on the 1st July 1915. [Captain Hunter
was killed on the 7th August 1915]. His estate was valued at £263. 3. 0d.

Killed during the third Battle of Ypres. His brother was killed at Krithia,
Gallipoli.

Death reported in the 16/10/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

Commemorated on a private family memorial stored in All Saints Church, Hale
Barns, removed from Ringway Church when it closed.

Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1918.
