Born on the 31st March 1892, the birth being registered under the name Eric Rawsthorn during the June quarter 1892 in the Preston R.D. - ref: 8e/692, the son of John James & Margaret Edith Rawsthorn (nee Jones). 1901 Census - 65 Garden Walk, Preston, Lancashire. Son - aged:9 - born: Preston, Lancashire. Head of household - John J. Rawsthorn - Married - aged:35 - occ: Solicitor - born: Preston. Also - Margaret E. Rawsthorn - Wife - aged: 36 - born: Cheadle, Cheshire. Plus 1 younger sister, a maternal aunt and a domestic servant. 1911 Census - No Trace, probably at Oxford University. His family were residing at The Yew Trees, Egerton Road, Ashton-on-Ribble, Lancashire. There are now listed - 2 sisters, an aunt and 2 domestic servants. Scholar of Willaston School and Balliol College, Oxford. Matriculated 1911. Member of the University OTC. Death reported in the 29/06/1915 edition of the Nantwich Guardian and the Altrincham Guardian. Local newspaper states that he lived at "The Nook", Heyes Lane, Timperley.
