Born 1898 at St. Petersburg, Russia, the son of Thomas James & Emilie Ward. 1901 Census - No Trace. 1911 Census - Wadham House School, Arthog Road, Hale. Boarder - aged: 13 - born: St. Petersburg, Russia. His younger brother - Harold Renshaw Ward - aged: 11, born in Russia, was also a boarder at Wadham House. Both lads were to be killed during WW1. MIC - states that he was posted to France on the 4th October 1916. Awarded the BWM & the VM. Post War, his father was residing at Laurie House, Hayling Island, Hampshire Attached 1st Bn Loyal North Lancashire Rgt. |
