Joined the Metro-Vicker's Company as a Probationary College Apprentice in
September 1929 and returned as a College Apprentice in 1933.    On
completion of his apprenticeship in December 1934, he joined the staff of
the Erection Department.    Joined the RAF in August 1941 and commissioned
as a Pilot Officer in 1942.   Killed in an aircraft accident in England in
1942.

Bachelor of Engineering (Sheffield).

Flying with 16 Operational Training Unit, they took off at 18.15 hrs in a
Wellington Mk III - No. Z1665 from RAF Upper Heyford for an evening bombing
detail but crashed a few minutes later into a wood near Barton Abbey, 4
miles WSW of the airfield.   Six of the crew were killed - one survived but
was severely injured.
