Born June Qtr 1910 in the Barton on Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/662.

Flying with 7 Sqn (Pathfinder), they took off at 22.26 hrs from RAF
Oakington in a Lancaster Mk III - No. JB676 MG-K for a bombing raid on
Freidrichschafen.   The a/c was shot down by a night fighter and crashed at
Reichenbach, 2Km east south east of Lahr/Schwaszwald.  The entire crew of
seven died in the crash.

Sqn Leader Ryle had joined the RAF in 1940 when commissions were being
offered for suitable candidates applying for Air Gunner posts.
