A Canadian, his father, William was stationed in the UK during the 1st W.W. met his mother, Hannah (CWGC) Annie (Local Newspaper) Gough residing here in Sale. They both went back to Canada in 1919. Her parents were Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Gough who lived at 3 Osborne Terrace, Sale - Samuel was a bricklayer. W.e.f. 14th November 1941, flying Blenheim Mk 4's, 113 Sqn was detailed to Giarabub No.1 - Landing Ground 107 and Giarabub No.2 - Landing Ground 108 (both situated in Libya, a good way south of Sollum on the Libya/Egypt border), plus Landing Ground 75 (situated south of Sidi Barani, Egypt) & Landing Ground 125 (situated a good way south Derna, Libya - well into the Libyan desert). Sgt Lee was a keen athlete and a Sea Scout in Montreal. He was employed as an Auditor on the Canadian Pacific Railway pre-war and Joined the RCAF in June 1940 at Calgary, Alberta.
