Born at Selkirk, Scotland in 1908 - ref: 778/100, the son of Robert & Mary
McIntosh (nee Berry).

Douglas was educated at Jedburgh Grammar School before serving his
apprenticeship in his father's grocery Business.  He took the post of
department head in a leading grocers in Princess Street, Edinburgh and
lectured on grocery subjects in further education classes.

1939 National Registration - 1 Arcadia Avenue, Brooklands, Sale.   Douglas
B. McIntosh - Married - born on the 26th July 1908 - occ: Commercial
Traveller for a biscuit company.    Also Catherine M. McIntosh - born on
the 21st January 1908 - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties, previously a trained
nurse.

Married Catherine Moore Lock in 1938 at Kelvingrove R.D. - ref: 644/220.  
They had a son - Ian D. McIntosh, born in the Sale Memorial Hospital in
December 1943

Douglas enlisted into the R.A.F.V.R. and was promoted from Leading
Aircraftman and commissioned Pilot Officer i July 1943.

Flying with 166 Sqn, they took off at 22.06hrs from R.A.F. Kirmington,
Lincolnshire, in a Lancaster Mk.1, No. ME686 AS - on a bombing operation
over Nurnberg.    Outward bound, they were shot down by a night fighter and
crashed 400 metres SE of Michelsrombach, 8 km WSW of Hünfeld and all 8
crew members are buried in the Hanover War Cemetery.
