Born during the June quarter 1922 in the Oldham R.D. - ref: 8d/978a, the son of Leonard Preston & Emma Knowles (nee Maylor). 1939 National Registration - 135 Downs Drive, Altrincham. Leonard P. Knowles - Born on the 2nd August 1887 - Married - occ: Buyer for Slabcake Factory. Emma Knowles - Born on the 26th March 1889 - Married - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties. Annie Knowles - Born on the 3rdSeptember 1919 - Single - occ: Clerk & Stock Keeper for Cigarette Distributors. George B. Knowles - Born on the 13th May 1922 - Single - occ: Apprentice Baker & Confictioner. CWGC - Son of Leonard Preston Knowles and Emma Knowles, of Chadderton, Lancashire. Commemorated in the Roll of Honour column of the 1st November 1944 edition of the Manchester Evening News, that states hi parents as residing at 135 Downs Drive, Timperley. Presumably they moved to Chadderton. soon afterwards. Listed on St. Alban's Vicar's typed list of war dead. |
