Attended Loughborough Grammar School. Employed by the State Assurance Co. in Manchester. Member of the Sale Harriers Athletics Club. Joined the RAF in 1940 and was sent to Miami, Florida for training as a Navigator. He had been a member of the first 1,000 bomber raid over Germany and had been involved in bombing raids over Turin & Genoa. Flying with 115 Sqn, they took off at 1349hrs from R.A.F. Mildenhall, Suffolk, in a Wellington Mk.III, No. BJ660 KO-H, on a bombing operation over Essen. They were lost without trace and are commemorated at Runnymede. Total losses 5 crew. |
