Born on the 29th December 1918, the birth being registered during the March quarter 1919 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/210, the son of Amy Elizabeth Aust. 1939 National Registration - 49 North Bar, Banbury, Oxfordshire. Leslie Aust - Single - born on the 29th December 1918 - occ: Lorry Driver's Mate. This was probably a Lodging House as there were 7 lorry drivers living there, plus Leslie. Employed by W.H. Smith & Co. Haulage Contractors, Sale. A Commando, he was returned wounded from Dunkirk and subsequently drafted into the South Lancashire Rgt. Married Barbara Sherwood Fisher at St. Martin's P.C. the marriage registered during the September quarter 1941 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/852. They resided at 64 Green Lane, Ashton upon Mersey. Their son - Barry L. Aust was born in 1942. M.I. - "In loving memory of a dear husband and daddy". His father, a Lance Corporal in the Lancashire Fusiliers, was killed in the 1st W.W. (Cannot trace him). |
