Attended Sale Central School, Altrincham Grammar School and the Manchester
College of Technology.  Member of the Altrincham G.S. ATC Sqn.   Employed
by the City Justices at the Gas Meter Testing Station in Manchester.

Joined the RAF on the 13/10/1941 and was commisioned as a Pilot.  He had
undertaken several bombing operations over Germany.

Flying with 78 Sqn, they took off at 2208hrs from R.A.F. Breighton,
Yorkshire, in a Halifax Mk.II, No. JD329 EY-G on a bombing operation over
Remscheid (a Rhineland arms town), piloted by Sgt Shelton.     They were
hit by flack before being finished off by a night-fighter, crashing at
Uedesheim on the W bank of the Rhine, 7 km SE of Neuss.  Two of the crew
were taken prisoner and the bodies of the other 5 were taken to
Nordfriedhof at Düsseldorf and later buried at the Reichswald Forest Cem.
