Born at Dunham Massey during the September quarter 1879 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/200, the eldest son of Peter & Mary Anne A.Walton (nee Hewitt). Baptised at St. Mary's P.C. Bowdon on the 14th July 1880. 1881 Census - Railway Cottage, Partington, Cheshire. Son - aged: 1 - born: Sinderland, Cheshire. Head of household - Peter Walton - Married - aged: 38 - occ: Plate Layer - born: Carrington, Cheshire. Also - Mary A.A. Walton - Wife - aged: 20 - born: Dunham Massey, Cheshire. 1891 Census - Carrington, Cheshire. Son - aged: 11 - born: Dunham Massey, Cheshire. Head of household - Peter Walton - Married - aged: 38 - occ: Farm Labourer - born: Carrington, Cheshire. Also - Mary A. Walton - Wife - aged: 36 - born: Dunham Massey, Cheshire. Plus 5 younger siblings. Until now, his mother's name was recorded as Mary A. Walton. Hereafter it's recorded as Margaret Walton??? I cannot find a death reference to Mary A. nor a marriage to a Margaret 1901 Census - 28 Peel Green Road, Barton, Eccles, Lancashire. Son - aged: 21 - occ: Striker for Blacksmith - born: Dunham Massey, Cheshire. Head of household - Peter Walton - Married - aged: 41 - occ: Horse Keeper on Farm - born: Carrington, Cheshire. Also - Margaret Walton - Wife - aged: 45 - born: Dunham Massey, Cheshire. Plus 7 younger siblings. Married Ada Thompson during the June quarter 1903 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/1110. 1911 Census - 342 Trafford Road, Patricroft, Eccles, Lancashire. Head of household - Married - aged: 32 - occ: Blacksmith - born: Dunham, Cheshire. Also - Ada Walton - Wife - aged: 29 - born: Patricroft, Lancashire. Plus 1 son and 2 daughters. There were three boarders. MIC - No record of him serving over seas. Awarded the BWM & VM only. Commemorated on the private family (grand parents - Thompson family) gravestone in St. Catherine's, Barton on Irwell. Ref: 3 C 13. Pension Records - Widow - 2 Enfield Street, Patricroft, Lancashire. He had been discharged from the Army. A £10 grant was paid to his widow on the 22nd January 1920. His file was destroyed on the 10th May 1927. His wife, Ada died 04/09/1967 aged 85 years. |
