Born at Shipley, West Yorkshire on the 21st August 1881, the birth being
registered during the December quarter 1881 in the Bradford R.D. - ref:
9b/204, the son of William & Esther Ann Studley (nee Crabtree)  Her Birth
registration states Esther Ann, but her Marriage registration states Hester

1901 Census - 37 Victoria Road, Shipley.   Brother-in-Law - Single - aged:
19 - occ: Printer's Compositor - born: Shipley.   Residing with his sister
- Marian Haste (nee Studley) and her husband - Fred Haste.

Married Lily Rhodes during the March quarter 1910 in the North Bierley R.D.

1911 Census - 7 Granville Terrace, Holbeck, Yorkshire.  Son - Married -
aged: 29 - occ: Printer - born: Shipley.  Also Lily Studley - Wife
(daughter-in-law to the head of household) - aged: 24 - born: Shipley.  
Head of household - William Studley - Married - aged:64 - occ: Wool Comber
Maker - born: Malton.  Also Esther Ann Studley, Wife - aged: 64 - born:
Shipley.

He wrote poetry (and beautiful letters), was very musical, a pianist,
church organist and singer and also was in a dance/entertainment/gypsy folk
troupe related to the Wesleyan Methodist Church, Shipley. He was a strict
Methodist, as was his wife - Lily Studley. The family all spoke well of
him.  He and Lily had two children - Harry Roy (b.1912) and Margaret, whom
he called Peggy (which stuck), born in 1916.

The 27th Tyneside Irish Battalion was posted to France in January 1916
serving with the 103rd Brigade, 34th Division.

Notification of his death in the Trades Union Typographical Circular.   He
was a member of the Manchester Branch of the Typographical Association and
aged: 35.

Pension Record - His widow - Lily Studley 11 Lime Avenue, Urmston was
awarded a weekly pension of 22/11d w.e.f. the 25th February 1918.  Her two
children were listed - Harry Roy (b.15/11/1912 and Margaret (b.01/03/1916).
  Lily's address was crossed out and 11 Baildon Bridge, Baildon, Yorkshire
substituted.   Lily had been awarded a grant of £50 on the 13th April
1918.   On a second Pension Card, Her pension was  w.e.f. 24th February
1921, upgraded to £1. 6. 8d for herself and 17/6d for her two children. -
a total of - £2. 4. 2d per week.

Listed on St. Michael's P.C. Memorial as N. Studley.   Listed on the
Davyhulme Methodist Memorial as Norman S. Studley.
