Born during the June quarter 1895 in the Ecclesall Bierlow R.D. - ref: 
9c/382, the son of Henry Samuel & Julia Stromberg (nee Jessop).

1901 Census - 23 Derby Road, Withington.  Son - aged: 5 - Scholar - born:
Sheffield.   Head of household - Henry Stromberg - Married - aged: 36 -
occ: Hardware Manager - born: Gothenburg, Sweden (British Subject).   Also
- Julia Stromberg - Wife - aged: 33 - born: Sheffield.   Plus 1 younger
sister & 2 domestic servants.

1911 Census - 95 Wellington Road, Fallowfield.   Listed as Cecil Stromberg
- Son - aged: 15 - Scholar - born: Sheffield.   Head of household - Henry
Stromberg - Married - aged: 46 - occ: Metal Hardware Buyer - born:
Gothenburg, Sweden.   Also - Julia Stromberg - Wife - aged: 42 - born:
Sheffield.   Plus 3 younger siblings & 1 domestic servant.

Attended William Hulme Grammar School.

His mother - Julia Stromberg died in late 1912.

WO363.  Aged 19 years 4 months at the time of his enlistment on the 10th
September 1914, residing at 9 Rippingham Road, Withington.  He was 5 feet
5¾ inches in height.  Weight - 125 lb.  Chest - 32/34½ inches.   Fresh
Complexion, green eyes and dark brown hair.  Religion - Church of England. 
On the 6th March 1915, whilst at Heaton Park, he was charged with "Improper
conduct on parade".  For that offence he was given 48 hours detention.  He
obviously had a problem with parades, as on the 20th July 1915 he was
charged with "Leaving the ranks whilst on parade".  He was given 3 days
C.B. (Confined to Barracks).  At the time of his enlistment, his parents
were residing at 16 Queens Road, Urmston.

He has an entry on pages 176/177 of the Manchester City Battalions, Book of
Honour.  He is also part of a group photograph.
 
Accidentally killed on the light railway at the Belton Training Camp,
Grantham.  Death reported in the Stretford Division Advertiser August 13th
1915
 
CWGC M.I. "He answered duty's call".  His parents are both buried in the
same grave - NC/601.
