1891 Census - 28 Topping Street, Bury.    Son - aged: 12 - Scholar - born:
Bury.   Head of household - George Stewart - Married - aged: 45 - occ:
Firebeater at Cotton Mill - born: Ramsbottom, Lancashire.   Also Mary
Stewart - Wife - aged: 43 - born: Ireland.   Plus 7 siblings and a cousin.

WO363 - Attested at Manchester into the 3rd Bn Royal Lancaster Rgt on the
11th June 1896; he was then aged; 18 years 1 month.   He was 5 feet 4
inches in height, weighed 110 lb, and his chest measurements were from 32
1/2 to 34 inches.   His complexion was Fair - his eyes were Grey and his
hair described as Red.   It confirms that he was born at Bury and resided
at 28 Topping Street, Bury.   His occupation was given as a Slater employed
by Mr. Murphy of Bolton Street, Bury.   It would appear that James' earlier
military career was quite short - 1896 to 1899 ???  His later (WW1) WO363 
records were lost during WW2.

Married Sarah Ann Finn during the June quarter 1899 in the Bury R.D. - ref:

Bury.   Plus their daughter - Margaret Stewart - aged: 1 - born: Bury.

1911 Census - 36 Livsey Street, Bury, Lancashire.    Head of household -
Married - aged: 33 - occ: Brick setter's Labourer - born: Bury.   Also
Sarah Ann Stewart - Wife - aged: 30 - born: Bury.   Plus 6 children

Pension Record - His wife - Sarah Ann Stewart was awarded a weekly pension
of 33/- w.e.f. the 26th February 1917.  Sarah was claiming for herself and
her 8 children.   James would not have seen his youngest son who was born
on the 3rd July 1916.   Sarah was given a £5 grant on the 16th April 1918.
  Their second child - James (b. 1904), was an inmate of the Industrial
School.   The record states that James was born on the 6th May 1881, which
is incorrect.
