Born during the December quarter 1896 in the Market Drayton R.D. - ref:
6a/719, the son of Thomas & Johannah Hand (nee Huxley).

His father - Thomas Hand was a Brick Maker, born in 1855 - he died in the
early summer of 1900 - aged: 45.

1901 Census - Mucklestone, Market Drayton, Shropshire.   Son - aged: 4 -
born: Stoke on Tern, Shropshire.   Head of household - Hannah Hand
(Johannah Hand actually) - Widow - aged: 40 - occ: General Servant (not
domestic) - born: Shropshire.   Plus 4 elder siblings, including his elder
brother - Richard Thomas who was also killed during WW1.

1911 Census - 73 Salisbury Road, Market Drayton, Shropshire.   Son - aged:
14 - occ: Groom (Domestic) - born: Stoke on Tern, Shropshire.   Head of
household - Johannah Hand - Widow - aged: 47 - occ: Charwoman (domestic) -
born: Ightfield, Nr Whitchurch, Shropshire.   Plus 4 elder siblings,
including his elder brother - Richard Thomas who was also killed during
WW1.

His mother - Johannah, having lost both her two sons in WW1, died in
Manchester in 1949, aged: 90.
