Born during the June quarter 1889 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/703, the son of George & Rebekah Jones (nee Roe) 1891 Census - Market Street, Stretford. Son - aged: 1 - born: Stretford. Head of household - George Jones - Married - aged: 30 - occ: Carter - born: Manchester. Also - Rebecca Jones - Wife - aged: 34 - born: Staffordshire. Plus 2 elder sisters. 1901 Census - 1 Poplar Grove, Urmston. Son - aged: 11 - born: Stretford. Head of household - George Jones - Married - aged: 40 - occ: Farm Labourer (Horse Keeper) - born: Manchester. Also - Rebekah Jones - Wife - aged: 24 - born: Staffordshire. Plus 6 siblings including his younger brother Frederick who was also killed during WW1. 1911 Census - 185 Higher Road, Urmston. Son - aged: 21 - occ: General Labourer - born: Stretford. Head of household - George Jones - Married - aged: 50 - occ: Labourer at Sewerage Works - born: Manchester. Also - Rebecca Jones - Wife - aged: 44 - born: Daisy Bank, Near Bilston, Staffordshire. Plus 6 siblings including his younger brother Frederick who was also killed during WW1. Married Florence Jones during the September quarter 1915 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/561. Florence married Elijak B. Bardsley in 1920. The 175th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery arrived in France in October 1916. Commemorated on the family grave in Urmston Cemetery, which states that he was killed on the 12th. His brother - Frederick Jones was also killed during WW1. A third brother - Private Richard Jones, King's (Liverpool) Rgt is also commemorated on this gravestone, but he died on the 8th August 1923, aged: 25. Listed on the Altrincham Cenotaph.
