Born on the 8th March 1896, the birth registered during the June quarter 1896 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/693, the son of George & Rebekah Jones (nee Roe). 1901 Census - 1 Poplar Grove, Urmston. Son - aged:5 - born: Urmston. Head of household - George Jones - Married - aged: 40 - occ: Farm Labourer (Horse Keeper) - born: Manchester. Also - Rebecca Jones - Wife - aged: 34 - born: Staffordshire. Plus 6 siblings including his elder brother George who was also killed during WW1. 1911 Census - 185 Higher Road, Urmston. Son - aged: 15 - occ: Baker - born: Urmston. Head of household - George Jones - Married - aged: 50 - occ: Labourer at Sewerage Works - born: Manchester. Also - Rebecca Jones - Wife - aged: 44 - born: Daisy Bank, Near Bilston, Staffordshire. Plus 6 siblings including his elder brother George who was also killed during WW1. A Bricklayer, Frederick was employed by Mr. Moulsdale, Urmston. Enlisted soon after the outbreak of war. The 7th Bn, Border Rgt were part of the 51st Brigade, 17th (Northern) Division. Commemorated on the family grave in Urmston Cemetery. His brother - George Jones was also killed during WW1. A third brother - Private Richard Jones, King's (Liverpool) Rgt is also commemorated on this gravestone, but he died on the 8th August 1923. Died on the day of his 20th birthday. Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1917. Commemorated on the family grave in Urmston Cemetery. His brother - George Jones was also killed during WW1.
