Born during the June quarter 1922 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/308, the
son of Ernest & Florence A. Heaton (nee Watson).

Attended St.Mary's School and Sale Central School.  Employed by Whitworth &
Mitchell Ltd, Shippers, Manchester.

Gunner - upper turret on his 11th Op.

Death reported in the 03/03/1944 edition of the Sale & Stretford Guardian.

Flying with 408 Sqn, they took off at 1719 hrs from R.A.F. Linton-on-Ouse,
Yorkshire, in a Lancaster Mk.II, No. DS704 EQ-W on a bombing operation over
Frankfurt.    They are believed to have been shot down by the tail gunner
of another Lancaster and crashed at Tessenderlo, Limburg, 23 km NW of
Hasselt, Belgium.   Four of the crew managed to evade capture by the
Germans, one became a POW and two were killed in the crash.
