Born during the December quarter 1898 in the Oldham R.D. - ref: 8d/697, the
son of Charles & Elizabeth Littlewood (nee Mellor).

1901 Census - 19 Plough Street, Oldham.  Son - aged: 3 - born: Oldham.  
Head of household - Charles Littlewood - Married - aged: 27 - occ:
Commecial Clerk - born: Oldham.   Also - Elizabeth Littlewood - Wife -
aged: 27 - born: Manchester.  Plus 1 younger sister.

1911 Census -  63 Circular Road, New Moston, Manchester.  Son - aged: 12 -
Scholar - born: Oldham.   Head of household - Charles Littlewood - Married
- aged: 37 - occ: Commecial Clerk - born: Oldham.   Also - Elizabeth
Littlewood - Wife - aged: 37 - born: Manchester.  Plus 3 younger siblings.

WO363 - Enlisted at Stretford into the     on the 6th February 1917.  
Medically classed as 'C1'.  His address was given as 38 Whitelake Avenue,
Flixton.  He was aged: 18 years 2 months and employed as a Salesman.  He
was 5 feet 1 3/4 inches in height, with an expanded chest of 31 1/2 inches.
 He made his Will on the 30th January 1918, leaving everything to his
mother at 38 Whitelake Avenue, Flixton (the date he went to France ???). 
The following is a list of his personal effects that were returned to his
mother:- 3 discs (1 wristlet), letters, photos, wrist watch and strap,
wallet, cigarette case, purse, nail clippers, a farthing, badge, cigarette
lighter, match box cover, ring (common).  Transferred to the North
Staffordshire Rgt on the 6th January 1918 and posted to the 9th Battalion
on the 10th.

Admitted to the 48th Field Ambulance on the 16th January 1918, suffering
from Scabies.  Sent down to the 11th Casualty Cleraring Station on the
18th.  Rejoined his Battalion on the 26th Janaury 1918.  Admitted into the
48th Field Ambulance on the 18th May 1918 suffering from a gas shell wound.
 Sent down to the 1st Australian Field Hopital at Rouen on the 6th June
1918.   In 1920, his parents were listed as Charles & Elizabeth Littlewood,
38 Whitelake Avenue, Flixton. Also recorded were his sister - Hilda, aged:
19,  his two brothers - Clifford, aged: 17 and Arnold,, aged: 13.
