Born at Flixton on the 25th November 1884, the birth being registered
during the March quarter 1885 in the Barrton upon Irwell R.D. - ref:
8c/688, the only son of Walter Mason & Sarah Jane Chadwick (nee Shorrock).

Born at Flixton, attended Knutsford Grammar School.   He emigrated to
Australia when he was aged 17 years (1902) and settled at Bundaberg,
Queensland.   He was employed as a Motor Driver and also had training in
Electical Engineering.

Age at embarkation - 32.  Next of kin - Mother, Mrs Sarah Chadwick, 134 New
Bank Road, Blackburn, Lancashire, England 
No previous military service declared when he enlisted on the 12th April
1916 - rank - Private 

Enlisted into the 25th Battalion, 15th Reinforcement - his AWM Embarkation
Roll number was 23/42/4.  His Unit embarked from Brisbane, Queensland, on
board HMAT A46 Clan Macgillivray on the 7th September 1916. 

Killed in Action  at Villers-Bretonneux, France on the 4th July 1918.
