Born during the December quarter 1884 in the Barton on Irwell R.D. - ref:
8c/645, the third son of Thomas & Elizabeth Aldred (nee Owen).

1891 Census - Moorside Road, Flixton.   Son - aged: 6 - born: Flixton.   
Head of household - Thomas Aldred - Married - aged: 43 - occ: Bricklayer -
born: Flixton.   Also - Elizabeth Aldred - Wife - aged: 45 - born: Oulton,
Yorkshire.    Plus 4 elder siblings - Rhoda, Mary George & John and younger
brother - Hartley.

He was then a Motor Builder, but was also a regular soldier finishing his
Army career as a Company Sergeant Major.  He and his wife - Mary Jane
Aldred, then had four children, plus two more later on.

MIC - Originally served with the Leicestershire Rgt - No. 34270 - Victory &
BWM only - no other details.

KIA on the first day of the Battle of Pilkelm Ridge (31st July - 2nd
August), part of what became known as the Third Battle of Ypres.   At 03.50
hrs (sunrise), 9 British & 6 French Divisions attacked on a 15 mile front
from the River Lys to the River Yser with the objective of driving the
Germans off the Pilkelm Ridge.

Commemorated on the private family gravestone in St. Michael's P.C.
Flixton.

He is not listed on the Flixton Roll of Honour, but his two brothers -
George & John are ???
