8e/859, the youngest son of Robert & Janet Gibson Earl.   Scotlands People
state that Robert married Janet Gibson, so Gibson was her maiden name.  
Jessie being a derivative of Janet.

Furness, Lancashire.   Head of household - Robert Earl - Married - aged: 50
- occ: Steam Ship Agent - born: Scotland.    Also Jessie G. Earl - Wife -
aged: 47 - born: Scotland.   Plus 4 elder siblings all born in Scotland.

His father - Robert Earl died in 1892, aged: 52.

1901 Census - 68 Flixton Road, Urmston.  Son - aged: 19 - occ:
Stockbroker's Clerk - born: Barrow in Furness.      Head of household -
Jessie Earl - Married (sic) - aged: 56 - born: Scotland.   Plus 5 elder
siblings all born in Scotland.   No trace of his father - Robert Earl - in
Scotland perhaps?

Stockbroker's Clerk - born: Barrow in Furness.   Head of household - Jessie
Gibson Earl - Widow - aged: 67 - born: Glasgow, Scotland.   Plus 2 elder
sisters all born at Glasgow, Scotland.

His father, Robert died 23/08/1892 aged 52 years and is buried at Glasgow,
his mother, Jessie Gibbon died 06/01/1920 aged 76 years.
