Born Ada Ashworth on the 9th May 1879, the birth being registered during the June quarter 1879 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/888. Married - Joseph Smith during the December quarter 1896 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/1179. 1901 Census - 9 Back York Street, Chorlton. Wife - aged: 22 - born: Manchester. Head of household - Joseph Smith - Married - aged: 23 - occ: Cotton Cloth Finishers Labourer - born: Salford. Plus 2 daughters and 1 boarder. 1911 Census - 9 Gay Street, Hulme, Manchester. Wife - aged: 32 - born: Manchester. Head of household - Joseph Smith - Married - aged: 33 - occ: Dock Labourer - born: Manchester. Plus 5 daughters, including Mary, their eldest, who was later required to identify her parent's bodies. 1939 National Registration - 15 Darley Street, Stretford. Joseph Smith - Married - born on the 9th September 1878 - occ: Disability Pension. Ada Smith - Married - born on the 9th May 1879 - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties.
