Born in 1888, the son of John & Mary Davies (nee Jackson).

Beerhouse Keeper - born: Carno, Montgomeryshire, Wales.   Also - Mary
Davies - Wife - aged: 40 - born: Carrington.   Plus 3 siblings and 1
boarder. 

His father died in 1894, aged: 38.

1901 Census - 13 Lynton Street, Salford.   Son - aged: 12 - born: Salford. 
   Head of househopld - Mary Davies - Widow - aged: 53 - occ: Retired House
Keeper Domestic - born: Carrinton.   Plus 3 siblings and 1 boarder.

1911 Census - 118 Robert Hall Street, Salford.   Son - aged: 22 - occ:
Packer - born: Salford.   Head of household - Mary Davies - Widow - aged:
65 - born: Carrington.   Plus 2 sisters and 1 boarder.

According to Ray Westlake's "British Battalions on the Somme", the 21st
Battalion, Manchester Rgt served in the 91st Brigade, 7th Division.  They
moved forward from Bois des Tailles at midnight on the 30th June ready for
their attack on Mametz.   'A' Company followed the advance into the German
front line.  'B' & 'C' Companies moved forward at 09.40 hrs to assist the
1st South Staffordshire Rgt on the outskirts of Mametz.  Later occupying
the western end of Danzig Alley.  'D' Company went into action during the
afternoon at Queen's Nullah.  They moved forward and occupied Bottom Wood
on the 2nd July 1916.  Relieved from the front line and to Buire on the
4th.   Moved to Citadel Camp on the 11th and Mametz on the 13th.  In the
valley near Sabot Copse on the 14th.  In reserve and support during the
attack on Bazentin-le-Grand and High Wood.  He was fatally wounded during
these latter days and moved back to Rouen Base Hospital where he died.

Commemorated on the private family gravestone in St. George's Church Yard,
Carrington.  His father John died 10/03/1894 aged 38 years and his mother
Mary, died 31/03/1919 aged 73 years.
