Born during the December quarter 1889 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref:
8c/676, the son of James Buckley & Elizabeth Ann Taylor (nee Hulton).  The
birth was registered simply as 'Edward Taylor' - no mention of a middle
name of 'Hulton'

1891 Census - 84 Shrewsbury Street, Old Trafford.   Son - (listed as Edward
Taylor) aged: 1 - born: Stretford.   Head of household - James B. Taylor -
Married - aged: 32 - occ: Salesman in Cotton Goods - born: Openshaw,
Manchester.  Also - Elizabeth Taylor - Wife - aged: 30 - born: Salford. 
Plus 1 domestic servant.

Attended William Hulme's Grammar School 1900 - 1901 ?

1901 Census - Victoria Road School.   Pupil - (listed as Edward Taylor) -
aged: 11 - born: Manchester.  This was a private school, comprising 27
pupils run by four spinsters and their spinster niece.   (1901 - 1903 ???).
  No trace of his parents.

Attended King William’s College, Isle of Man, where he was a pupil from
1903 to 1907.

1911 Census - "Oaklands", Gorstage, Northwich, Cheshire.   Son - (listed as
Edward Hulton Taylor) - aged: 21 - occ: Printer's Engineer - born:
Manchester.    Head of household - James B. Taylor - Married - aged: 52 -
occ: Retired Quilt Manufacturer - born: Manchester.  Also - Elizabeth Ann
Taylor - Wife - aged: 49 - born: Manchester.  Plus 1 visitor and 4 domestic
servants.

The 11th June 1914 edition of the Birmingham Post reports that Edward was
'Gazetted' on 4th June 1914.  .The report states that he had been
successful in the examinations for officers in the Special Resere, Militia
and Territorial Force held in March 1914.  He was now promoted to Second
Lieutenant in the 18th (Queen Mary's Own) Hussars.   Previously served in
the 2nd East Lancashire Brigade, Territorial Force.

Commemorated on the family gravestone in Sale Cemetery.  M.I. - "May he
rest in peace".

Eldest grandson of Edward & Mary Hulton of Oakfield House, Ashton upon
Mersey.   Post War his parents were still residing at "Oaklands", Gorstage,
Northwich, Cheshire, which is now a 13 roomed hotel.
