Born during the March quarter 1894 in the Manchester R.D. - ref: 8d/298, the son of Louisa Barratt (nee Higginbottom). 1901 Census - No Trace. 1911 Census - No Trace. Married - Louisa Higginbottom during the June quarter 1917 in the Prestwich R.D. - ref: 8d/629. Formerly 3820 - 9th Bn Lancashire Fusiliers. Died at Rouen Hospital. SDGW states that he died on the 18/08/1918. The CWGC state that he died on the 20/08/1918. Commemorated on the private family (grand-parents' grave - Heywood family) gravestone in Sale Cemetery - M.565, which states that he died 09/09/1918. MIC - Awarded the BWM & VM. French M.I. - "Not now, but in the coming years, we'll know the meaning of our tears". | |||
