Born during the June quarter 1890 in the Manchester R.D. - ref: 8d/279, the
son of John & Eliza Ann Barratt (nee Heywood).

Maker up at Iron Works - born: Manchester.  Also - Eliza Ann Barratt - Wife

aged: 42 - born: Manchester.    Plus 4 siblings.

1911 Census - 55 Sudell Street, Manchester.   Boarder - aged: 19 - occ:
Estate Agents Clerk - born: Manchester.

By 1911, his father had died and his widowed mother, aged: 52, is now
residing with her widower father - Joshua Heywood.

Leonard enlisted into the Royal Army Medical Corps on the 8th May 1912 at
Manchester.   Aged: 17 years 6 months.   Height: 5 feet 5 inches - Weight:
115 lb - Expanded chester: 33½ inches with a 2½ inch expansion.

Drafted to Egypt and Gallipoli on the 9th September 1914.    Admitted to a
Field Ambulance on the 14th October 1915     Repatriated aboard the
Hospital Ship H.S. "Aquitania".   Died of Pneumonia close to UK waters on
the 27th October - the ship docked at Southampton the following day.

Buried 02/11/1915 - Burial No. 14,818.    Maternal Grand-parent's grave -
Heywood family.
