Death reported in the 29/06/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

The 06/07/1917 edition of the local newspaper reported that a Corporal
Shenton had written home stating that he was with Lt. Irlam when he was hit
by machine gun bullets.

Listed as G. Irlam on the town war memorial.
