Trafford

Born during the June quarter 1891 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/177, the
son of James & Rachel Bladon (nee Mason).   James & Rachel moved from
Newcastle under Lyne to Sale in 1889 and were living at 31 Chapel Road,
Sale in 1891, probably where John was born.   His father was a  Police
Sergeant at Sale.

1901 Census - 1 Church Street, Wincham, Cheshire.    Son - aged: 10 - born:
Sale.    Head of household - James Bladon - Married - aged: 42 - occ:
Police Sergeant - born: Newcastle under Lyne, Staffordshire.     Also -
Rachel Bladon - Wife - aged: 42 - born: Newcastle under Lyne,
Staffordshire.    Plus 2 elder siblings.

1911 Census - 30 Station Road, Lostock Gralam, Cheshire.    Son - aged: 20

WO363 - Enlisted at Chester on the 1st September 1914.   Aged: 23 years 7
months - occ: Labourer.   Height: 5 feet 6 inches - Weight: 140 lb -
Expanded chest: 35 inches with a 2 inch expansion.   Embarked at Folkestone
for France on the 25th September 1915.   Admitted to the 76 F.A.  (Field
Ambulance) on the 1st December 1915 suffering from Influenza - back on duty
by the 6th.   Admitted to the 12 C.C.S. (Casualty Clearing Station) on the
26th February 1916 again, suffering from Influenza.    His record then
states that he was admitted to 75 F.A. suffering from Appendicitis that
same day (error in transcription ???).   Next admitted to 23 General
Hospital at Etaples on the 29th February suffering from "slight Influenza".
   Received a shrapnel (bomb) wound on the 30th August 1917 and sent down
to 55 General Hospital at Boulogne on the 31st and straight onto the
Hospital Ship, H.S. "Danio", back to England.

Posted to the 3rd Battalion, Cheshire Regiment on the 25th October 1917.  
Embarked for France on the 6th December 1917, arriving at Rouen on the 8th
and re-posted to the 15th Battalion, joining that Battalion in the field on
the 18th.

Private Bladon died during the final German offensive in March 1918.
