Trafford

Born on the 24th November 1889, the birth being registered during the
December quarter 1889 in the Wandsworth R.D. - ref: 1d/677, the son of
George Frederick & Mary Charlotte Norbury (nee Warburton).   Along with a
younger brother, he was Baptised at St. Michael's P.C.  Wandsworth on the
8th November 1892

Married - aged: 36 - occ; Traveller for Printing Machines - born:
Manchester.    Also - Mary C. Norbury - Wife - aged: 30 - born: Manchester.
  Plus 3 elder siblings and 1 domestic servant.

His father - George Frederick Norbury died in 1892, aged: 36.

1901 Census - 16 Broady Street, Stretford.   Son - aged: 11 - born:
Clapham, London.    Head of household - Mary C. Norbury - Widow - aged: 44
- occ: Living on own means - born: Stretford.    Plus 2 younger brothers
and 1 boarder.

1911 Census - Son - aged: 21 - occ: Machine Fitter - born: Wandsworth
Common, London.   Head of household - Mary Charlotte Norbury - Widow -
aged: 54 - occ: Private Means - born: Stretford.   Plus 1 boarder.

One of the best known swimmers in the Manchester & District and an
excellant water polo player - frequently played for the Stretford Water
Polo Team

Pioneers.  'A' Company - landed at Le Havre on 15th February 1915.

In a letter home in March 1915, Private Vivian Brocklehurst refers to him
as a Sgt and stated that he died of a bullet wound accidentally received
during manouvres at their base in France.

Listed as a Lance Corporal on Stretford Cenotaph, but as a Lance Sergeant
by the CWGC who also state that he was a native of Stretford.
