Farm Labourer - born: Ireland.   Also - Winny Kelly - Wife - aged; 46 -
born: Ireland.   Plus 1 elder sister and 2 lodgers.

1911 Census - No Trace.

Contay Cemetery was used by the 49th Casualty Clearing Station from August
1916 to March 1917.   Bouzincourt 21/10; To camp just north east of village
22/10; Working parties to forward area Thiepval, then to front line
Thiepval sector 'Stuff' Trench 26/10; Relieved and to Donnet Post 30/10; To
front line again at 'Lucky Way' 02/11; Donnet Post 05/11; Camped near
Aveluy 09/11; Front line again 13/11; Marlborough Huts 16/11; Forward to
'Zollern' Trench at 14.00hrs and attacked at 'Desire' Trench at 16.25hrs on
18/11    War diary notes that there was thick fog and even thicker mud
after reaching 'Stuff' Trench and men were getting stuck in the mud - the
attack swung to the left and was later abandoned.
