Born at Eccles in 1876, the son of Thomas & Elizabeth Frances Davies (nee
Collier).

1881 Census -  Bank Field, Ashton upon Mersey.    Grandson - aged: 6 -
born: Manchester.   Plus his 2 siblings - George, aged: 11 and Ethel, aged:
8.   They were residing with their maternal grand father and his 2
daughters (Robert's aunts).  Head of household - George Collier - Widower -
aged: 65 - occ: Merchant - born: Wellington, Shropshire.

1891 Census - 5 West Grove, Sale.   Son - aged: 16 - occ: Apprentice in
Warehouse - born: Eccles, Lancashire.    Head of household - Elizabeth F.
Davies - Widow - aged: 46 - occ: Living on her own means - born:
Manchester.   Plus 2 siblings - George - aged: 21 and Ethel, aged: 18.

1901 Census - No Trace.

1911 Census - No Trace.

WO 363 - Enlisted at Chester on the 21st January 1916 into the 5th Bn,
Cheshire Rgt.     He resided at "Braemar", Highfield, Brooklands, Sale and
was aged: 40 years, 336 days.   His trade was - Accountant.  He was 5 feet
7 inches in height with chest measurements of 32 1/2 to 34 1/2 inches - he
was of Muscular physical development.   His next of kin was his brother -
George Davies of the same address.  Posted into the 14th Bn on the 27th
January 1916.   Appointed Paid Lance Corporal on the 29th March 1916.  
Posted to the 3rd Bn on the 29th August 1916.   Transferred to the 10th Bn
and posted to France on the 7th September 1916.    His final posting was
into the 9th Bn, Cheshire Rgt on the 2nd December 1916.

No mention of his father, but his mother was Elizabeth Frances Davies of
the same address.   His only brother was George Davies, but he had 2
sisters - Alice Davies and Ethel Davies - all adult and residing at the
same address.   He embarked for France on the 18th November 1916 and
arrived in France on the 20th and into the No.4 I.B.D. (Infantry Base
Depot) at Rouen.   Posted to the 9th Bn in the field on the 2nd December
1916.

Admitted into the 2nd Stationary Hospital, Abbeville on the 6th March 1917,
suffering from I.C.T. (Inflamed Connective Tissue) to right toes.  He
joined Class 'A' at No. 4 I.B.D at Rouen on the 23rd April 1917.

Death registered during the June quarter 1917 in the Salford R.D. - ref:
8d/209 - aged: 40.
