son of Alexander James and Sarah Alice Mills (nee Darlington).

aged: 35 - occ: Clerk in Shipping House - born: Hulme, Manchester. Also –
Sarah A. Mills - Wife - aged: 30 - born: Manchester. Plus 1 younger
brother.

1911 Census – 15 Meadows Road, Sale.    Son – aged: 21 – occ:

Employed by S.L. Behrens Ltd (Merchants), Manchester

Joined The Manchester Regiment as a Private in 1914.   Served in the 16th
Battalion and promoted to Lance Corporal before taking part in 1917 in the
Battle of Arras.    Posted as missing presumed killed in the Second Battle
of the Scarpe on 23rd April 1917.

Member of the Ashton on Mersey Congregational Church.

Death reported in the 08/02/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.   He
had served for two years in France.
