Born during the September quarter 1898 in the Salford R.D. - ref: 8d/125,
the son of David & Emma Hudson (nee Wheeler).

In 1891 the family was residing at 59 Bury New Road, Prestwich, where his
father ran a Fishmonger's shop.  This is undoubtedly where Harry was born. 
 David & Emma then had three children.

His father died in late September 1897 whilst Emma was still expecting
Harry.

1901 Census - 59 Bury New Road, Prestwich.   Son - aged: 3 - born:
Prestwich.   Head of household - Emma Hudson - Widow - aged: 36 - occ:
Shopkeeper - Fish & Game Dealer - born: Birmingham.  Plus 4 elder siblings,
including Benjamin who was also killed during WW1.

Emma continued the business in Prestwich for a few more years before moving
to 2 Barwick Place, off Washway Road, Ashton upon Mersey.

1911 Census - No Trace.

In February 1915, although only 16  years of age went to Manchester to
enlist and weas accepted.   Initially he formed part of the Scottish
Coastal Defences before moving to Edinburgh in August 1915.   A month
later, still aged only 17 he was posted to Alexandria, Egypt.   They were
not sent to Gallipoli, but formed part of the Western Frontier Force
protecting Egypt.   In May 1916 he was posted to France landing at
Marseille.  The 5th & 6th Battalions merged and known as 5th/6th Battalion.
  Served in France at first before moving up to the coastal area near
Nieuport

Death reported in the 19/10/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

Listed as T. Henry Hudson on St, Mary's Memorial.

His brother - Benjamin also died on active service.

M.I. - "Leaving him to sleep in France, the son I gave to God.  Thy will be
done".
