Born during the June quarter 1887 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/189, the
son of Charles & Elizabeth Leech Fisher (nee Ellis).

His mother - Elizabeth Leech Fisher died during the March quarter 1890 -
aged: 37.

His father and sibling were then residing at Dane Road, Sale.   His father
- head of household - Charles Fisher - Widower - aged: 34 - occ: Nurseryman
- born: Sale.   Plus 2 elder siblings, aged: 7  5.   His paternal
grandfather - Charles Fisher (Snr), aged: 72 was also listed.

His father Charles Fisher married Ellen Gregory during the June quarter
1891 in the Bakewell R.D. - ref: 7b/1149.

mother - Ellen Fisher - Wife - aged: 34 - born: Matlock, Derbyshire.   Plus
7 siblings, aged: 17 - 15 - 8 - 6 - 5 - 3 - 2.

1911 Census - 13 Britannia Road, Sale.   Boarder - aged: 23 - occ: Gardener
at Nursery - born: Sale.    Residing with John Thomas & May Victoria
Robinson.

His father managed (owned ?) Priory Nursery and died in 1918, aged: 61.

WO363 - Enlisted at Hale, Cheshire on the 24th September 1914.   Born at
St. Anne's Sale, aged: 27 years 150 days.   Occupation given as a Gardener.
  He was 5 feet 7 1/2 inches in height, weighed 163 lb with chest
measurements of 34 1/2 to 36 1/2 inches.   He had a Fresh complexion, Blue
eyes, Black hair and Church of England as his religion.    Appointed unpaid
Lance Corporal on the 30th October 1914 and promoted to Corporal on the
27th November 1914.  He served At Home (U.K.) from the 24th September 1914
until the 15th November 1915.   Posted to France on the 16th November 1915
until he was killed on the 30th January 1916.   By the time of his death,
his uncle - John Ansty was residing at 11 Finny Bank Road, Ashton upon
Mersey.  John Ansty was also the recipient of William's medals in 1921, as
his father died in January 1918.

William was out on a night patrol and was within a few yards of the German
line when he was spotted and machine gunned down.

Death reported in the 11/02/1916 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.
