Born during the December quarter 1883 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/179,
the eldest son of William Percival & Florence Nightingale Cuthbertson (nee
Taylor).

and a servant.

Widow - aged: 40 - occ: Dressmaker - born: Salford.     Plus 2 younger
brothers and a boarder.

The 19/10/1917 edition of the local newspaper reported that he had been
awarded the Military Medal for his actions on the evening of the 25th
September 1917.     Whilst his battery was being heavily shelled an
ammunition dump had been struck by a German shell which caused 90
cartridges to ignite.     Two men were at the dump at the time and he and
Sgt Foster instantly dashed into the flames and brought both men out to
safety and in consequence saved their lives.

He had been at the front for only six months when on the 4th November 1917,
he died of wounds received on the 1st November 1917.   A shell burst close
by and shrapnel went into the right side of his neck.     His death was
reported in  the 23/11/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.
