Born during the June quarter 1886 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/186, the
3rd son of James & Martha Brownhill (nee Sherlock).

born: Ashton upon Mersey.   Head of household - James Brownhill - Married -
aged: 43 - occ: Labourer - born: Ashton upon Mersey.   Also Martha
Brownhill - Wife - aged: 42 - occ: Washerwoman - born: Somerset.   Plus 5
siblings.

Attended St. Martin's School, Ashton on Mersey.

Keen cricketer (bowler) and billiard player, he was employed by Manchester
Corporation at their Carrigton Nurseries.

Enlisted in 1915 and was wounded during the Battle of the Somme in 1916,
later transferred to 319641 - Labour Corps.

Death reported in the 06/12/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

At the time of his death, he was employed on agricultural work in the
Peterborough area.     Died from Influenza and Pneumonia.

Commemorated on the family gravestone in St. Martin's Ref: 6a.13 and on the
Manchester Corporation's Parks & Cemeteries Department Roll of Honour

His father James died 20/08/1920 aged74 and his mother Martha died
26/05/1928 aged 79.

His brother Herbert also died on active service in 1917.       Another
brother is serving in the Army.
