Born during the September quarter 1884 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/650, the son of George Henry & Anne Emma Barlow (nee Beck). 1891 Census - 42 Irwell Street, Eccles, Lancashire. Son - aged: 7 - born: Eccles. Head of household - George Barlow - Married - aged: 34 - born: Altrincham. Also Ann E. Barlow - Wife - aged: 36 - born: Kentish Town, Middlesex. Plus 2 brothers. 1901 Census - 55 Vican Street, Eccles. Son - aged: 17 - occ: Grocer's Assistant - born: Eccles. Head of household - George H. Barlow - Married - aged: 44 - occ: Gardener - born: Altrincham. Also Annie. Barlow - Wife - aged: 46 - born: London, Middlesex. Plus 2 brothers and 2 boarders. His father - George Barlow died in 1906, aged: 49. His mother married Enoch Burrows in 1910. 1911 Census - 77 Shrewsbury Street, Old Trafford - occ: Fitter - born: Salford. Head of household - Enoch Burrows - Married - aged: 64 - occ: Pattern & Model Maker - born: Leicester. Also Annie Burrows (Henry's Mother) - Wife - aged: 49 - born: Somerset ??? Plus 3 half siblings and 1 boarder. Married - Alice Rhodes in St. Mary's P.C., Eccles during the September quarter 1917 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/1012. SDGW states that he was in the 16th Bn not 1/6th and that he died on 25/10/18. CWGC records and his gravestone state 1/6th Bn and that he died on the 23rd October 1918. A Prisoner of War in Germany, he was repatriated home, but died in London. M.I. "Rest in Peace". His widow married Arthur Syer in 1926 and resided at Holly Mount, Doveston Road, Ashton on Mersey. He is buried in the "Shepherd" family grave. |
