Trafford

Born at Middleton on the 17th September 1888, the birth being registered
during the December quarter 1888 in the Oldham R.D. - ref: 8d/677, the only
son of Robert & Mary Hannah Harrison (nee Berry).    Baptised at St.
Matthew's P.C., Chadderton, Lancashire.on the 21st October 1888.

1891 Census - No Trace.

1901 Census - No Trace.

Attended Manchester Grammar School.

Went to Canada a few years previously and held a good position with the
Canadian Bank of Commerce in Toronto.

Served with the 1st Canadian Contingent.

His Canadian attestation form, signed on the 22nd September 1914, at
Valcartier, Quebec, states that he was 25 years of age, 5 feet 8½ inches
in height, had a 35½/2 inch chest (fully expanded).   His complexion was:
Fair, his eyes: Grey and his hair: Fair.    The papers also state that he
was a Bank Clerk by trade and that he had never previously served in any
military force.    There was a Military Camp at Valcartier, Quebec.

Religion - C of E.   His mother - Mrs. M.H. Harrison, 38 Abingdon Road,
Brooklands, Sale was listed as his next of kin.

Enlisted with his pal Harold Brown, who was coincidentally killed one hour
before he was.  A letter received from R.H. Whittaker (also in 'D' Coy, 3rd
Bn) stated that he was standing next to Private Harrison when he was killed
by shrapnel.

Death reported in the 11/06/1915 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.    His
father was a Mill Manager in India where he died.

Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1916, which states
that he was "formerly" of Abington Road, Sale.
