son of Joseph & Jane Moore

Attended St. Paul's Sunday School. and was a member of the Church Lads
Brigade.   Employed at Linotype Works, Broadheath for 7 years.

Enlisted in November 1914 and drafted to the front in December 1915.

The 17/03/1916 edition of the local newspaper reports on a letter that he
sent home stating that a shell had burst near him and had collapsed the
side of the trench, burying six of them and that he was the only one of the
six to be brought out alive.   It also stated that he lived at Roebuck
Lane, Sale.    The 29/08/1916 edition states that this incident took place
on the 3rd July and that he was rescued by his Captain who had himself
since been killed.

Wounded by shrapnel on the 21st July 1916.   Death reported in the
29/08/1916 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

There are two William Henry Moore's - both are listed on St. Paul's
Memorial, but only one of them is listed on the Cenotaph.

His brother, Albert Moore died on active service in 1918.

Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1917.
