Born during the December quarter 1897 in the Northwich R.D. - ref: 8a/231,
the son of Mrs L.A. Barlow

1901 Census - 28 Park Street, Northwich, Cheshire.   Boarder - aged: 3 -
born: Northwich.   Head of household - Julia Willis - Widow - aged: 54 -
occ: Laundress - born: Northwich.  Plus four of her Willis children, a 48
year old boarder and 1 visitor.

1911 Census - 9 Station Road, Northwich.  Boarder - aged: 13 - Scholar -
born: Northwich.    Head of household - Julia Parr - Widow - aged: 64 -
born: Northwich.  Plus 2 of her Willis children and 2 other boarders.

WO363 - Enlisted into the 5th Battalion, Cheshire Rgt - number 2955 on the
17th November 1914.   Address given as 9 Station Road, Northwich.   Aged 17
years 2 months, he was 5 feet 3 1/2 inches in height and his chest
measurement was 34 inches expanded with a 2 inch range.   His vision was
recorded as good, as was his physical development.   Posted on the 27th
November 1914.  He was given 14 days detention on the 26tth July 1915 for
using obscene language and the deliberate waste of Army rations.    Home
Service - Northwich 18/11/1914 to 09/12/1914 - Aberystwyth 09/12/1914 to
18/02/1915 - Cambridge 19/02/1915 to 21/04/1915 - Northampton 21/04/1915 to
17/06/1915 - Epping 17/06/1915 to 06/07/1915 - Northampton 06/07/1915 to
20/07/1915 - Bedford 20/07/1915 to 09/06/1916.   Suffering from Impetigo,
he was admitted to No. 68 W.D. Hospital, Bedford on the 12th October until
the 26th October 1915.   Posted into the 16th Battalion, Cheshire Rgt on
the 6th January 1917.   He embarked at Southampton on the 6th January 1917
and reported to No. 4 - I.B.D (Infantry Base Depot) at Rouen on the 7th.  
Given 7 days Field Punishment No. 2 on the 22nd November 1917 for not
complying with an order i.e. not getting up at reveille.    He was given
leave from 15th January to the 19th January 1918.    No next of kin or
siblings recorded on his record apart from a note saying he was born out of
wedlock.  His medals were to be sent to Mrs. Louie Barlow, 2 Partington
Place, Sale.

Private Barlow died during the final German offensive in March 1918.
