Trafford

Born on the 15th August 1891, the birth being registered during the
September quarter 1891 in the Manchester R.D. - ref: 8d/223, the son of
George & Martha Lizzie Beeton (nee Waite).  George Snr. was a Butcher on
Oldham Road, Manchester in 1891.   Baptised on the 11th October 1891 at St.
John's P.C. Miles Platting, Manchester.

At the time of the 1891 census his father was recorded as residing at 528
Oldham Road, New Cross, Manchester, where he had his butcher's shop.  He
was aged: 29 and born at Appley, Lincolnshire.  This was two doors along
from the Golden Lion Inn P.H.  His mother and elder sister were then
residing as Visitors at Talbot Road, Layton with Warbreck, Fylde,
Lancashire.    Martha was aged: 26 and born at Oldham.   George or "Harold"
as he was known, was probably born at 528 Oldham Road.

1901 Census - 99 Washway Road, Sale.   Son - aged: 9 - born: Manchester.  
Head of household - George Beeton - Married - aged: 39 - occ: Butcher -
born: Rugby, Lincolnshire.  Also - Martha L. Beeton - Wife - aged: 35 -
born: Oldham.    Plus 3 siblings and 1 domestic servant.

His mother - Martha Lizzie Beeton died in 1903, aged: 38.

1911 Census - 65 Washway Road, Sale.  Son (listed as Harold Beeton) - aged:
19 - occ Butcher's Assistant - born: Manchester.     Head of household -
George Beeton - Widower - aged: 50 - occ: Butcher - born: Lincolnshire. 
Plus 3 siblings and 1 domestic servant.

In 1914 he attended his sister's marriage to the up and coming automobile
engineer - Harry Quick.

Early in 1915, both George and his brother - Arthur Beeton enlisted at
Sale.  They both served in the same Royal Artillery Unit - 119 Field
Brigade.  Arthur was in 'A' Battery and Harold in 'B' Battery.  Both were
posted to France in 1916 and were engaged in the Battle of the Somme 1916
and later up at Ypres.   In April 1918, his brother was invalided home with
Trench Foot.

SDGW lists his number as 118611.  MIC - Awarded the BWM & VM.

French M.I. - "In loving memory.  Killed in action, aged 27".

CWGC - Son of George & Martha Lizzie Beeton of 65 Washway Road, Sale,
Cheshire.
