Born during the December quarter 1892 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/183, the son of John & Annie L. Brown. 1901 Census - 73 Manor Road, Altrincham. Son - aged: 8 - born: Altrincham. Head of household John Brown - Married - aged: 33 - occ: Steam Roller Driver - born: Rochester, Kent. Also - Annie L. Brown - Wife - aged: 31 - born: High Legh, Cheshire. Plus 3 siblings. Attended Seamons Moss School, but he is not listed on their Memorial. His father - John Brown died in 1903, aged: 35. 1911 Census - 9 Hope Road, Sale. Son - aged: 18 - occ: Mechanic - born: Altrincham. Head of household - Annie Brown - Widow - aged: 41 - occ: Tobacconist, etc. - born: High Legh. Plus 4 siblings. Choir boy at All Saints Church, Altrincham. Member of the Church Lads Brigade at both Altrincham & Sale, bandmaster of St. Paul's Company, Sale. Employed by Richardson Motor Garage as a Chauffeur to Major General Douglas at Styal. Local newspaper reported that he was "mobilised" on the 4th August 1914 and drafted to the front in January 1915. His mother married Ernest H. Naylor during the September quarter 1914. Killed in Action on Good Friday. Death reported in the 17/04/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian. Commemorated on the Christ Church, Timperley Memorial. Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1918, which states that he lived at Sale.
